What is Nawtint?
Nawtint is a final color finish applied to a unique face brick and
mortar construction.
Nawtint is applied after the bricks have been laid.
The Nawtint finish impregnates the surface of the brickwork giving
it the final color.
The finish is durable and permanent and (provided the bricks and mortar
are constructed to our specification and meet Building Industry codes)
will last for a minimum of 25 years.
The Nawtint system does not require maintenance or re-application
as is the case for other commercially available applied finishes.
How does it work?
Nawtint is applied using an absorption process. After absorption the
Nawtint colorants and binders cure to become an integral part of
the brickwork surface.
How much does it cost?
For pricing please contact Austral Bricks on 02 9830 7777 or info@australbrick.com.au
How long does it last?
The Nawtint coloring system has been tested to last for a minimum
of 25 years providing that the brickwork construction meets Industry
Standards and our Nawtint Brickwork specification.
It will not fade or peel or blister or appear chalky or wash out.
warranty available - What does it cover?
The limited warranty available covers the appearance and integrity of the color
finish for a period of 25 years in normal weathering conditions providing
that the brickwork and construction meet industry standards.
See Example warranty available
Can a common brick be used?
No, the system has been purposely designed for use in conjunction
with a specific face brick.
Why Austral bricks?
Currently Austral Bricks have developed a brick suitable for use with
Nawtint.
How long does it take to apply?
This depends on the size of the project and site conditions and weather.
In good conditions an average sized house or villa will take 1-3 days.
At what stage of construction is it
done?
When the brickwork has been completed and the brickwork surface is
dry and the roof and gutter/fascia has been installed. Preferably
the downpipes have been attached to the gutter but not finally fixed
to the brickwork.
Earth and rubbish should be removed from bridging the edge of the
concrete slab and the lower courses of brickwork.
Scaffolding and roof safety rails should be in place for our applicators
to access elevated brickwork.
What sort of mortar joint is required?
An off white full and flush joint is required.
How is it applied?
The Nawtint product is applied via a 2 or 3 stage controlled absorption
using a combination of rolling and brushing techniques. Any waste
product is returned to our site.
Does it need to be cleaned first?
No, as long as care is taken during the bricklaying process to remove
excessive mortar smears and dags.
Can I have it over my existing house?
